The Heart Behind Balanced Reflection
Welcome
to Balanced Reflection Counseling
I’m Jennifer Peelman, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and the founder of Balanced Reflection Counseling, where I am dedicated to one-on-one relationships, walking alongside women as they go through the transformative experiences of family building, parenthood and personal growth.
From my earliest days in college, I was captivated by the courage of those who opened their hearts, and shared their stories, their vulnerability, and their truth. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside thousands of individuals as they’ve navigated their own joys, challenges, and turning points.
My calling to become a perinatal mental health specialist emerged from my own experiences navigating the complexities of motherhood. Like many women, I found myself unprepared for the emotional challenges that accompanied pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. These personal experiences ignited my passion for supporting other women through these pivotal life transitions.
As I pursued my education and training in mental health counseling, I was drawn to the unique needs of women in their family-building years. I recognized a gap in care for those struggling with fertility issues, pregnancy complications, birth trauma, and the often-overwhelming transition to parenthood. This realization shaped my professional focus and led me to create Balanced Reflection Counseling—a safe haven where women can find understanding, healing, and growth.
My approach to therapy is rooted in these personal and professional experiences. I understand firsthand the profound changes and challenges that come with building a family, and I'm dedicated to providing the kind of compassionate, informed support I wish had been available to me.
At Balanced Reflection Counseling, you'll find more than clinical expertise—you'll discover a partner who truly understands the terrain you're navigating. Whether you're facing the uncertainties of fertility treatment, processing a difficult birth experience, or adjusting to the demands of new parenthood, I'm here to offer guidance, support, and a safe space for your healing and growth.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of the office, I love chasing after my kids, spending time with mom friends, baking, photography, and sitting on a beach
as often as possible.
I am passionate about community involvement and am an active volunteer throughout my school district, from the PTA to founding
a parent advocacy group. I actively participate in peer education groups in the mental health community as well as ongoing professional development in order to better serve my clients.

My Therapeutic Philosophy
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to meeting you where you are, with no judgment or expectation. I believe in the power of compassionate, person-centered care that honors your unique story and strengths.
I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s collaborative. I see each therapeutic relationship as a partnership—one built on trust, authenticity, and a shared commitment to exploring your narrative with compassion and curiosity. My approach is person-centered, blending evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques to meet your specific needs.
